Job description

Main Purpose

Due to significant turnover growth, Swimming Pool Builders design and construction company with offices in London are looking to appoint a new engineer, to strengthen and complement the existing contracts and service teams. The company operates within the luxury swimming pool sector both domestic and commercial, and experience in the swimming pool construction industry including filtration, heating and chemical dosing systems is required. Some away UK and overseas travel may be required such as Dubai, Monaco, USA.
Key Duties

  • On site working predominantly on sites anywhere in the south of England and in central London
  • Maintenance works / alterations / plumbing
  • Small works / refurbishment projects
  • To undertake comprehensive pool surveys which follow a specific format
  • To undertake initial site inspections to determine problems and liaise with service manager over how to overcome these so client can be quoted accordingly
  • To assist the service manager with managing refurbishment and small works projects where necessary and procurement of specific or specialist parts where applicable
  • Fault finding and resolving problems / electrical and mechanical
  • Integration of control systems
  • Aiding contracts team when required or as service schedule allows in general swimming pool installations and commissioning works
  • General other on site works as required
  • Service assistance / call outs if required
  • Liaising/ interacting with clients and or housekeepers
  • Opening up / closing down outdoor pools at the beginning / end of the season
  • Servicing of indoor and outdoor swimming pools and all associated plant
  • Checking correct operation of equipment in the plant room and in pool hall including automatic covers
  • Manual and automatic chemistry correction and associated maintenance of automatic dosing equipment or treatment plant
  • Maintenance of air handling / treatment plant
  • Carrying out water sample testing
  • Tiling works

Attributes / Qualifications

  • Previous experience in swimming pool construction industry
  • Knowledge and experience of general building practices
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to self-manage when required.
  • Basic computer literacy. Email use essential.
  • Build good working relationships with other parties both internal and external
  • ISPE qualification or equivalent
  • CSCS card
  • Full clean driving license

Additional Preferred Skills / Qualifications

  • London driving experience
  • Level 3 City and Guilds Electrical installation
  • 17th Edition Wiring Regulations

Job - Swimming Pool Maintenance Technician

We have an immediate vacancy for a junior technician. The Technician will visit our clients, valeting the pool, checking and dosing chemicals and carrying out small repairs to the pool equipment. This equipment includes filter pumps, sand filters, plastic pipework, small electrics, chemical dosing, heating systems, pool covers and poolside accessories.

The Technician must be competent with good experience and an understanding of mechanical systems. The ability to work on your own is essential, as is attention to detail in your work. The successful applicant will be numerate with clear handwriting. A smart appearance and friendly personality are vital as you represent Swimming Pool Builders to our customers.

After an initial training period the engineer is expected to visit up to 6 sites a day, keeping accurate records of work carried out and report back to the office at the end of the day.

The working day starts at 8.00 on site and finishes at 4.30 in the office. Travel time will be paid for leaving early to arrive at site on time, overtime will be paid for work carried out on site after 4.30. Because of the nature of some of our Commercial clients, occasional very early/late may be required. We also operate a paid weekend callout rota.

o A clean driving license is required.

o We visit some school sites so a CRB check will be carried out.

o A Company vehicle is provided. Personal use is not permitted although vans are taken home overnight.

o Specialist equipment is provided together with a tool allowance

o We provide a subsidised uniform.

o 18 days holiday plus 4 days at Christmas and all Bank Holidays.

A basic salary of around £20,000 plus overtime and performance related bonus. Total gross remuneration of £22K - £24K will be paid depending on experience.

As a small, seasonal business all employees need to be flexible in their job responsibilities, including working in our yard/shop.
